To better stimulate the economy, some local governments have offered favorable conditions to foreign investors. But such favors should not become the privilege of foreign investors only, says an article in Nanfang Daily. Excerpts:

The government of Wuhan city in Hubei province recently said it would offer some favorable conditions, including simplified procedures, to foreign investors.

Wuhan is not the only city doing so to attract more foreign investment. Many cities and provinces, too, grant foreign capital great advantages in China. But while employing valuable resources to welcome foreign investors, local governments often neglect the domestic ones. Local people are never offered the same conditions, making them the privilege of foreigners only.

It's true that economic nationalism should not to be encouraged in a modern society. But domestic capital should at least enjoy privileges similar to its foreign counterpart, for only by exploiting the domestic market potential can the economy be better developed.
