It's difficult for China to maintain its pace of economic development given the severe impact of global recession. Identifying the common interests of China and the rest of world will help build a more balanced world economy that benefits all and promote world peace and development, says an article in Xi'an Evening News. Excerpts:
Another clamor has risen around China's strength, performance and role on the international stage.
Some believe that China's economy is bound to collapse because of its crippled stock market, housing market bubble and imbalanced economic structure, while others argue it emerged as the biggest winner from the global economic crisis and should undertake more international responsibilities.
Adulating China for its distinguished performance so as to entail responsibilities beyond its capacity or to squeeze its development space by exaggerating its "threat" is harmful both to China and the rest of the world.
The common interests of China and the rest of the world lie in peace and development. China needs a peaceful environment and room for development, which in turn could create new opportunities for others and promote global prosperity and stability.
