The government sent planes to Kyrgyzstan to evacuate Chinese nationals from the riot-hit country, demonstrating its people-oriented policy, says an article in Xinhua Daily Telegraph. Excerpts:
When the Chinese government received news of ethnic violence spreading in Kyrgyzstan, it sent two planes to fly its citizens back home.
This not only reflects the efficiency of the government, but also the policy of making its citizens the central issue of its diplomacy. During the past few years, the Chinese government has always used its diplomatic resources to ensure the security of its citizens whenever trouble has erupted in foreign lands.
With China opening up further, more and more Chinese nationals are working and travelling overseas. Their security comprises an indispensable part of the China's national interest. Providing them proper protection demonstrates the people-oriented policy of the Chinese government and its responsibility as an emerging power.
