Dearth of resources has for long troubled China's education system. And their unequal distribution has made things worse , says an article in Xinhua Daily Telegraph. Excerpts:
Every August, long queues are formed before kindergartens. Parents use all their resources to get their children admitted to good kindergartens to build a solid base which would ensure they get high-quality education later in their academic career.
Shortage of educational resources is a big problem. But perhaps their unequal distribution is a bigger problem. Many of those who queue up for days may not even get to see their children going to the kindergartens of their choice, because some powerful figures reserve many of the seats for their children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews.
The sorry state of the education system needs to be reformed immediately so that every child enjoys equal chance of going to school.
