Comment on "Exam piles too much pressure on students, parents don't help" (China Daily, June 9)

I have no idea when China became a nation focused on the examination-oriented educational system.

The university entrance examination is getting more and more important in each family's daily life. It seems that this test is not just an examination; it is more like the vital moment that will decide Chinese students' whole career in life. I have no right to criticize some Chinese families' attitude toward their children, but please, just remember that they are just kids, they are entitled to enjoy life outside the classroom, they are allowed to have creative thoughts instead of suffering the huge pressure from their parents and society.

It is hard to imagine the consequence if some parents think their genius children failed to get the expected good marks, how cruel it would be for those children. I heard that lots of students lost their chance to go further in education, and some even went crazy. It is strongly hoped that my great motherland China can change this horrible fact, let the children learn what they are interested in, let them be motivated to study hard by their personal interest rather than the huge invisible pressure from society, which is losing our culture during the fast development of our economy.
