Bekele completes gold double by winning men's 5000m

BEIJING -- Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele, the double 10,000 meters Olympic gold winner, won his second Olympic gold in Beijing and third in total after easily taking the 5000m race here on Saturday.

Bekele, who finished second after Morocco's great Hicham El Guerrouj in Athens four years ago, walked away with the gold easily in 12 minutes 57.82 seconds, beating the Olympic record of 13:05.59 set by Said Aouita in the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

Eliud Kipchoge took the silver in 13:02.80 and his compatriot Edwin Cheruiyot Soi won the bronze in 13:06.22.
