BEIJING -- Kenya's Wilfred Bungei won the Olympic gold medal in the men's 800m race here on Saturday.

Bungei finished the two-lap race in a fastest time of 1 minute 44.65 seconds.

Ismail Ahmed Ismail of Sudan took silver in 1:44.70, and Bungei's compatriot Alfred Kirwa Yego earned bronze in 1:44.82.
