At this moment the British delegation is placed third on the medal tally with 16 golds out of a total of 37 medals. While in the previous Olympics in Athens they got only 9 golds in 30 medals. Can you smell the London Olympics?

In winning the 16 golds British athletes have so far won at the Beijing Games they have displayed a typical British characteristic, nobility.

Britain’s cyclists dominate their delegation’s medal tally winning 8 golds and a total of 14 medals, half of all the medals British delegation has grabbed. It fully attests to Britain’s dominance in the cycling. This is especially true of the track cyclists who snatched 7 golds out of 10, making the British cycling team a “dream team” at the Olympics.

Originating in England, rowing is a popular sport, typified by the annual University Boat Race where Oxford and Cambridge battle it out. Britain was ranked first in the rowing, with 2 out of a total of 6 golds. The nation was jubilant when their favorite Men’s K4 defended their title again.

Britain has grabbed 3 golds and 1 silver in sailing with a few days of sailing left. It is the best result Britain has had in the last few Olympics.

The achievements in these three events could be described as “brilliant”. I also believe that the British athletes will do better in the next Olympics to be held on home soil.

Britain won a surprising two gold medals in swimming and they even got a gold in women’s 400m. This means that Great Britain is not only defending the royal tradition of their sports, but also aiming for golds in their favorite events.

Beware the British are coming. While the Beijing Olympics are still on, the London Olympics are waving to the world.
