Xie/ Zhang claim Macao Open badminton title

MACAO -- China's Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen claimed the Macao Badminton Open mixed doubles title by beating Fang Chieh-Min/Cheng Wen-Hsing of Chinese Taipei here on Sunday.

The pair defeated the Chinese Taipei duo 21-14, 21-16 in 40 minutes.

After tied at 12-12 in the opening game, Xie/Zhang had 6 points in a row to take the game with 21-14.

Leading 7-5 in the second game, the Chinese pair never looked back again and ran to the final victory with 21-16.

Xie was delighted to gain the first title here.

"I feel excited as I never won a title here in Macao," said Xie, "I think that we are equally strong players and we won because we are a little bit mentally stronger today."
