Academy award-winning Italian music producer Giorgio Moroder, the writer of two previous Olympic theme songs, is in Beijing to work with Chinese pianist Kong Xiangdong in recording "Forever Friends" for the upcoming Olympics' theme song competition.

Giorgio Moroder is credited with the world-famous 1984 Los Angeles Olympics theme song "Reach Out," the 1988 Seoul Olympics' theme song "Hand in Hand," as well as "Un'estate Italiana" for the 1990 Football World Cup.

Twenty finalists from the 2007 College Student Music Festival singing competition are joining the chorus for "Forever Friends."

Giorgio Moroder told the Chinese media that in his eyes these singers well represent the millions of Chinese college students and the Olympic spirit.

Both Moroder and his long-time friend Kong Xiangdong are confident in winning the competition for 2008 Beijing Olympics' theme song.

A live performance of the song is expected as part of a grand ceremony to kick off the one-year countdown of the 2008 Beijing Olympics on Tiananmen Square Wednesday night.
