All test events this year will be operated according to Olympic standards, officials said in a mobilization meeting for the preparatory work for the 2007 test events on Monday.

"The test events are a rehearsal of the organization work for the Olympics and excellent preparations will lay a solid foundation for next year's Olympic Games," said Liu Qi, president of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG).

According to the schedule, 26 test events will be held this year, all of which will be under the name of "Good Luck Beijing". Among them 23 will be held in Beijing with the rest in Hong Kong (equestrian), Qingdao (sailing), Shenyang and Qinhuangdao (football).

As promised by Liu, the competitions will be arranged in accordance with International Olympic Committee requests and Beijing's bid promises.

The aim of these tests is to see if facilities, technology systems, logistics and other factors are ready for the Olympic Games.

"All the relevant departments should work together to ensure the smooth running of these events," said Liu.

"We should also attach great importance to the venue operations of these tests - setting up sufficient venue teams, building up organizing committees within each sports federation and providing sufficient logistical support to facilities."

He also called for the government to ensure all-round logistics support, such as security, transport, commercial services, food safety, health and disease prevention.

"Urban operations are important for the tests as well, as this will provide a good city environment for the events," said Liu. "With 'Good Luck Beijing' events, we should show the world a beautiful Beijing and friendly people."

Before the 2008 Olympic Games, there will be about 40 such test events in Beijing and other co-host cities.
