Liu Jingmin, vice mayor of Beijing and executive vice president of the Beijing organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX (BOCOG) met with the visiting delegation of the European People's Party (EPP) led by Wilfried Martens, former Belgium prime minister and EPP president on Friday.

Liu told the guests that progress has been made in every respect of the preparatory work for the 2008 Olympic Games, including the venue construction, marketing, sports organization and other areas. He also answered the questions put forward by the guests on Beijing's infrastructure construction.

Martens said he was surprised by the change that has taken place since 20 years ago when he visited China. Appreciating the Olympic slogan of One World One Dream, he expressed confidence that the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be a success.

Founded in 1976, the European People's Party has 73 member parties in 36 countries. The delegation's China visit is the first of its kind.
