Updated: 2008-08-23 10:38 It's no surprise that Michael Phelps' winning feats will be turned into Hollywood movie fodder but guess who's lining up to play the lead? According to the Chongqing Economic Times, Tom Cruise is pitching to play the eight-time gold medalist. Kobe Bryant will be celebrating his 30th birthday today by watching the men's football gold medal match and maybe the US women's basketball gold medal game. Yahoo sports quoted Bryant as saying: "I've been trying to catch synchro (swimming) but I haven't been able to yet You're laughing, but I'm dead serious." Bryant, who is averaging 14.7 points and 21.5 minutes per game in Beijing says he's not feeling his age. "I honestly feel younger now than I did last year or a couple of years ago. My legs feel great, and I feel good." Zimbabwe's 400m runner Lewis Banda is looking for a Chinese wife. He told Beijing Times that he had visited China several times and was attracted to the country's women. He said his future bride should be tall, natural and friendly rather than too pretty. He said he earned a decent income so the couple would enjoy a decent life back in Zimbabwe - where he is a multi-billionaire (though the exchange rate isn't so flattering). Banda offered up his e-mail and asked Chinese women to get hold of him. China's Olympic badminton champion Lin Dan always wears a Mao Zedong badge on his chest. He told the website sports.cn that before the Athens Games four years ago he went to Hunan province and the late chairman's former residence. He said he thought he didn't pay sufficient respect to Mao's portrait and went out in the first round of the Olympics. Since then he has worn a Mao badge to give him power and luck.
