Liu has suffered enough

To Liu Xiang: It is unfortunate to see that your injury lingered and caused you to give up the competition in the 110m hurdles. To all the Chinese fans that witnessed this at the track, please do not feel so bad about it. Let him heal and recover completely and he will one day regain his position at another Games.

Best of luck to all Chinese athletes who will be competing in the next few days and I hope all of them can achieve gold medals.

His Achilles heel

Today was a very important day for China and Liu Xiang. No one wanted to see this (injury), but it has happened. His heel is his Achilles heel. Both he and his coach have done very well to get to this great competition. Training is tough. No one can escape being injured after years of tough training. China is still proud of Liu.

We should remember the moment that he won his gold medal. I hope that in the future he can overcome his difficulties and get back into the Olympic Games. All Chinese people will stand behind him and support him forever.

Still a hero

To Liu Xiang: Take good care of your health! We love you not because of your gold medal but your sportsmanship that enhances our image as Chinese in front of the world!

The long run

Liu Xiang's decision to pull up is smart in the long run. It is very common for athletes to pull out when they have serious injuries. I felt sad to see him hurt. I deeply believe that he tried his best. He is a hero in China and in our hearts.

Love Liu Xiang

Hurting heart

My heart hurt when I saw the news. It was a great regret for (Liu Xiang) not to break the world record, give his best performance, and for the spectators not to celebrate with him. He is our dear family member. We will be together for ever. Other athletes certainly deserve our best wishes.

Don't blame Liu

We won't blame (Liu Xiang). He has done his best. I hope he will heal as soon as possible. You are our hero!
