The pair folded paper into 14,000 triangular shapes in order to build the vase then painted the words "Lucky Beijing" onto it, according to the Shenzhen Daily. They then placed a small motor at the base of the plinth that holds the vase so that it rotates slowly and can be viewed more easily. Fuwa underwear causes stink Fuwa mascots are so popular their images are being used in a variety of imaginative ways and businessmen are catching on. One company, however, has gone too far, according to Xinhua, which reported the sale of female underwear with images of the Fuwa on them. The underwear was being sold in Guangdong markets for 3 to 8 yuan (40 cents to $1.10) a pair, although there was no brand name on the knickers. Xinhua reported many people were refusing to buy them because they thought the panties were an insult to the "blessed image of the Fuwa". Olympic spirit sprouts It took a little bit of imagination and two months for an art teacher in Hebei province to create a picture of the five Fuwa using beans and seeds. Shuang Qilei's environmentally-friendly 2m by 1m Fuwa picture has been grabbing a lot of attention and he told the website Chinanew.com that he hoped the "Olympic Spirit could sprout and grow like the seeds".
