Sochi 2014, the organizing committee of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, presented a 10-step action plan for the year ahead to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board in the Greek capital, Athens, this week.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, president and CEO of Sochi 2014, announced his priorities for the coming 12 months and also informed the IOC about the excellent progress made to date in delivering the 2014 Winter Games in the Black Sea city of Sochi. He stressed that Sochi 2014's budget, foundation plans, legal framework and delivery structure are already in place.

Chernyshenko emphasized the Organizing Committee's determination to exceed the exacting targets that have been set to ensure Sochi hosts a once-in-a-lifetime Winter Games with one of the greatest social, sporting and environmental legacies in history.

Sochi 2014's 12 month "10 Point Action Plan" is:

Finalize the locations of the mountain sport venues and the Olympic villages whilst finding an optimal ecological solution with NGOs.

Finalize the venue infrastructure construction schedule.

Participate in the observers' program of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing.

Sign a marketing plan agreement with the IOC.

Review venue use and hotel use agreements.

Update the initial Olympic transport plan.

Interact with government authorities to integrate the Games' preparations plans.

Deliver an enhanced educational brand protection program.

Deploy project management system, multiplatform communication system and other innovative technology solutions.

Produce the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games master schedule.

"Sochi 2014 is making strong progress across the board and I am determined that we will continually surpass expectations on the road to hosting a truly innovative and inspirational Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games," Chernyshenko said.

"The IOC Coordination Commission for Sochi 2014 has already recognized that our preparations are on track against the IOC Master Plan and we will meet the challenges that lie ahead."
