Hurbert Booth, an Englishman, once fell face down on the floor with a handkerchief in his mouth, it so happened that hesuckedhard and discovered that the hanky had trapped all the dirt. This supposedly led him to invent the vacuum cleaner. In 1901 he gave it the look in the form of a large, horse-drawn, petrol-driven unit which was parked outside the building to be cleaned with long hoses being fed through the windows.
By the twenties, vacuum cleaner 'mutant' cars surfaced on the streets making theElectroluxbrand a popular name. In 1927, over thirty Electrolux cars manned with 4 salesmen, called "The motor car crew", and 1 driver each set off in Germany with the sole aim of selling as many vacuum cleaners as possible to everyone, everywhere.
