The library at the Culture and Sports Center in Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe district), Xinjiang Urumqi autonomous region will be open and free to all by the end of the year.

Yao Shankun, a technical director of the library project, said that the interior, including electricity and ceiling and floor paving, has been completed. The rest is expected to be finished by the end of July.

Covering an area of 6,000 square meters, the library is on the first floor of the Culture and Sports Center and is divided into different areas for various functions, including small children interaction, visually impaired reading and meetings.

Equipped with advanced intelligent and digital hardware equipment, it is expected to meet the demands of readers in terms of group reading, visiting, information searching and project studying. Its collection is expected to reach a total of 400,000 books, with the first shipment containing 50,000 books.

The intelligent borrowing system, with 24-hour self-service borrowing and returning, an electronic book-borrowing machine and bibliographic retrieval terminals, makes it convenient for people to borrow books.

"The library will nurture a quiet atmosphere for residents, enrich their daily life, and promote the cultural development of the district," said Hu Shuman, deputy director of the Toutunhe district Culture and Sports Bureau.
