A government delegation from Belarus toured the Urumqi Economic and Technological Zone (Toutunhe Zone) on Sept 21 to get a close look at the region’s latest developments.

The delegation was led by Baltrukovitch Piotr Ivanovitch, vice chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology in Belarus, and had been in the Xinjiang capital to attend the China-Eurasia Expo.

Liu Haijiang, a member of the district’s standing committee, accompanied the delegation to Goldwind Science and Technology Co’s premises to learn about the company’s industrial structure, assembly line technology and development plans.

Ivanovitch was impressed with the company’s wind turbine generator and inquired about the company’s overseas operations and equipment prices. He said that there have already been some Chinese companies investing wind power plants in Belarus and looked forward to potentially cooperating with Goldwind in the future.

Ivanovitch talked with Chinese officials about the China-Belarus Industrial Park that was founded in Belarus in 2014 and invited Goldwind to build an R&D center there to expand its business in Europe.

Liu also expressed his wish to boost cooperative ties between Belarus and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to promote common development.

Belarus situates in the center of Europe and an important stop along the Silk Road Economic Belt. The China-Belarus Industrial Park started construction in June 2014, and it is now in stable operation. It offers many preferential financial and tax policies for its tenant companies.
