Over 2,000 spectators attended a concert held by the Shanghai Orchestra on Aug 4 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in the autonomous region’s Xinjiang People’s Hall.

Conducted by renowned director Yu Long, the orchestra performed a number of well-known songs including “Under the Bright Sunshine”, “My Motherland”, “Let Us Row Our Boats” and “The Yellow River”. The Xinjiang Philharmonic Orchestra’s conductor joined the stage to co-direct “Sing for the Motherland” with Yu in the concert’s grand finale.

Yu Long said the orchestra used the concert to honor the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, which has made great contributions to the local economy and the safety of the Chinese border. He expects more musical-artistic cooperation between Shanghai and Xinjiang in the near future.

The concert was sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio and Television; the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Publicity Department; and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Culture, Radio and Television Bureau.
