On July 24, a delegation from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council visited Central Asia Food Research and Development Center in Toutunhe district.

"We guarantee our products have no added colorants, fragrance or preservatives, so please, eat with a clean conscience!" said General Manager Qi Chenchen proudly.

At the food exhibition hall, Tian Tianxing, the Overseas Office’s deputy director, scooped a spoonful of chili sauce into his mouth and raised a thumb to signal his approval. Qi Chenchen explained that freshness and health are integral to the company philosophy, and that they only make food they’d want to eat themselves.

Central Asia Food Research and Development Center Co., Ltd. is a transnational food enterprise that researches, produces and exports food both at home and abroad. Its plant in China sits within the Urumqi Export Processing Zone.

The company’s first plant was set up in Kazakhstan in 1998 and consumers in Central Asia have loved its high-quality canned vegetables and jams ever since. Based on the 56 million cans made by Xinkang Food sold within Kazakhstan each year, four cans are consumed per capita each year.

Since entering the Xinjiang market in 2010, the company has enjoyed success in China. Chinese consumers were quick to buy its tomato sauce, pickled cucumbers with soy sauce, and mulberry and raspberry jams. Market shares have risen year after year.

Qi Chenchen said excitedly, "We hope the resources of the development zone (Toutunhe Area) can increase brand awareness, so we can expand further into the domestic market."

Tian Tianxing said that he was looking forward to seeing the company grow and hopes to buy its products in Beijing sometime soon.
