A delegation from the Science and Technology Division of the Ministry of Environmental Protection surveyed the Development Zone's establishment of an eco-industrial demonstration area on March 16, 2012.

The delegation was led by Liu Zhiquan, director of the Science and Technology Division of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

At the symposium, Xue Jihai, vice-secretary and governor of the zone introduced the accomplished work and achievements obtained in applying as a national eco-industrial demonstration zone.
The development zone has paid special attention to ecological and environmental protection for years. Since the zone was first listed in the batch of circular economy pilot parks in 2007, it has made great efforts to control its total quantity of atmospheric and water pollutants.
The zone has also carried out environmental improvements and ecological restoration projects. A series of ecological transformation measures including encouraging production audits in enterprises, ISO14000 accreditation, energy savings and reducing emissions, have been implemented.
The zone strictly follows the process of bio-safety disposal for solid waste and hazardous waste. It also emphasizes the supervision of key pollution sources and environmental quality. It is establishing an environmental protection system that covers environment planning, construction, controlling and management.

Liu Zhiquan hopes the development zone will continue to make more investments in science and technology to protect the environment. The local government and environmental protection department should help enterprises and residents increase their environmental protection awareness.
Li Bingqiang, Ding Tongzu and Li Chunsheng, leaders of the development zone accompanied the delegation to conduct the investigation. They also attended the symposium.
