The National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Application on Social Security Risks Sensing, Prevention & Control was unveiled in the Urumqi High-tech Industrial Development Zone (UHDZ) on July 21.

The National Development and Reform Commission approved the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation to cooperate with local support to build the laboratory on Jan 23.

As one of the first of 19 national engineering laboratories to be built in 2017, the laboratory will improve the city's ability in social security affairs and boost the development of big data applications for social security.

Xiong Qunli, president of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, said that the laboratory aims to promote the application of big data technologies for national social security, and it will provide talent and technology supports to emerging industries.

Wu Manqing, chief engineer of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, introduced that scientific research has been vital in building a big data system for social security in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in recent years. The lab will develop key technologies to secure the region's social and industrial development.
