A project largely undertaken by Xinjiang Deland Co involving "high-efficiency water resources development and utilization" was launched at a meeting of more than 60 experts and researchers on Oct 22 in the Urumqi high-tech Industrial Zone.

Zeng Fanfu, president of Xinjiang Deland Co, outlined the project and his management plan and suggested nine sub-projects for appraisal.

Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region has lacked adequate water for a long time and rapid development in the textile and thermal power industries has exacerbated the problem.

The science and technology bureau appointed Deland, a leading water treatment company in Xinjiang, to find a solution. Deland will work with another 20 enterprises and research institutions.

The project is intended to integrate the textile and thermal power industries and harmonize their water use, including recycling.

It also aims to create new water disposal principles and technologies to back up the area’s water and energy saving mission.

A related technical standard system and management platform will be a final outcome of the project to establish criteria for water treatment and use.

"It is Deland's great honor to take responsibility for the task and also a breakthrough for Urumqi to put the national key project on the shoulders of a private enterprise," said Liu Dongwei, director of the Urumqi high-tech Industrial Zone’s science and technology bureau.

He hoped that Deland will be fully devoted to the mission and contribute to science and technological innovation in this field.
