A team from the Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region visited the Urumqi State High-tech Industrial Zone's shanty areas on July 11.

The panel is looking into the areas' expropriation compensation system, the construction situation and the monetized resettlements.

The zone now has seven squatter settlement projects involving 4,922 households. So far 4,438 have been expropriated.

Li Wenshi, head of the panel, praised the shanty areas' rebuilding work and offered some suggestions. He said the zone should make a five-minute video to publicize the unit features of the revamped squatter areas.

He also required the construction safety and quality to be secured and the compensation information to be completed.
