Xinjiang gets central government support for road projects

From January to March, six transport infrastructure projects in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region-- Hami-Mingshui Highway, Hotan, Yarkant, Ruoqiang, and Tumxuk airports, and Hongliu River-Naomao Lake Railway projects -- were approved by the central government and received funding of 1.9 billion yuan($ 309.2 million).

The Moyu-Hotan Highway project also received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission.

This year, Xinjiang government launched 23 new projects covering railway, highway, airport construction, and urban railway transportation, with a total investment of 18.8 billion yuan, to expand the region’s transport network, provide convenience for its residents, and increase regional economic and cultural cooperation.
