The Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region announced its 2013 evaluation results of government websites on Dec 10. Eight percent of the websites have their own mobile applications to connect citizens with government services, Iyaxin.com reported.

The evaluation work, starting from the beginning of 2013, covers information transparency, online interaction with citizens, website operation and safety, and other criteria.

Around 158 government websites, including 14 prefecture-level and 101 county-level sites, were evaluated by the Xinjiang Tianheng Information Evaluation Center.

Wang Xinmin, deputy director of the Xinjiang Tianheng Information Evaluation Center, said that the proportion of the high performance sites increased to 29 percent this year.

He added that online service platforms should be improved to enable stronger government partnerships and better customer service.

Twelve e-government sites have launched mobile apps successfully to provide convenient access to local government information and non-emergency services.
