Dustbins along Junggar Street in Karamay of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region have been replaced by some strange looking ones, overturning the traditional concept of the dustbin, according to kelamayi.com.cn on Nov 3.

The new dustbins, installed at the beginning of November, have a big electric advertising board above three rubbish cans, which is able to work uninterrupted thanks to a large solar energy charging panel on top of the dustbin.

At the bottom of the dustbin there is a built-in lead-acid storage battery which can provide seven to eleven days of operation when fully-charged. Each dustbin has two USB interfaces on the left side of it, one for 5V-1A another for 5V-2.1A.

He Jianguo, the project manager from Tommy Media Company, said, “The dustbin can serve all types of cellphones. With a matched USB cable for their phone, citizens can charge their phones for free.”

Also the electric advertising board is bright enough to provide light for pedestrians at night.

This new kind of dustbin is expected to cover every corner of the city, and citizens will never need to worry about their phones powering off.
