Shu Xiaoqin, the deputy secretary-general of the State Council, led a successful visit to the northwestern Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Sept 1 to 2.

The two-day trip provided officials with an opportunity to engage with local level projects and gain a deeper understanding of Karamay. Prominent Xinjiang leaders and local Karamay officials led the delegation to a residential community, a public service call center, and a Karamay Numerical Control Center, a computer system using big data to analysis and solve urban issues.

The delegation spent an afternoon with a Karamay District community and Chen Xinfa, secretary of Karamay municipality Party committee, led a discussion on a new legal system that offers citizens a wider range of legal options.

While at Karamay Numerical Control Center the delegation learned about the ways in which the Center uses modern information technology to create regional development.

In recent years Karamay has become a hub for call centers and Shu expressed her delight at these developments. She encouraged local companies to cooperate with the government and expand bilingual call services. Shu was particularily impressed with the telemedicine companies operating in Karamay

“The service is convenient for locals and it allows many people to receive high-quality care without having to leave their homes.”

Karamay officials were satisfied with the visit and hope the State Council will continue to provide insightful support.
