Karamay education center ready for freshmen

The Karamay higher education mega center housing four universities, located to the east of Yingbin Road and north of 217 State Road, has been well-decorated to receive its freshmen of 2016.

The four universities are the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Karamay campus, Xinjiang Medical University, Karamay Vocational and Technical College and Karamay Technician Training Institute.

The center has an information hub where students can borrow books and a comprehensive gymnasium. It’s around four km away from the city center, and students are able to take buses No 13 and No 14 to downtown.

“It is the first year for the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) to enroll students at the Karamay campus,” said Xiao Lei, the campus’ vice director.

Xiao added that the campus plans to recruit students in six majors in 2016, five of them petroleum-related and the sixth software engineering. All preparation work in the new campus is expected to be finished in early August.

The Karamay campus is equipped with high quality facilities and the school is working on build a strong teaching staff, Xiao said.
