Five female teachers from Pakistan started their training at the international division of Karamay High School in March. More than a month later, they have made remarkable progress.

They take six classes a day to learn spoken and written Chinese language and Chinese songs as well. Their favorite Chinese song is Tian Mi Mi (sweet honey). The five girls also chose their own Chinese name.

The Pakistani teachers have quickly adapted themselves to life in Karamay. They are now able to go shopping and order meals alone and even bargain.

What they say (in Chinese):

Khadija (Chinese name: Ke Jia): Chinese is very difficult, but I will work hard.

Farah (Fu Le): I do not like to eat steamed bread. I like noodles.

Shahista (Su Tian): I like yogurt. I like playing basketball.

Sahiqa (Ning Jing): Chinese characters are difficult, but pronunciation is not.

Granaz (Ge Yue): We love China. We love Karamay.
