Karamay Municipal Library held a poetry recitation competition with a theme of "sing for the country, love our home" on Nov 29, the Karamay Daily reported.

"I am very fond of poetry recitation and I have joined this kind of activity several times," said Zilalai Dilixiety, a student from Karamay No 3 Primary School.

The activity attracted more than 80 students from three primary schools namely No 1, 3 and 8. They recited 19 poems, including Karamay, My Hometown, which was composed by them.

"I have created a QQ chatting group for the poetry amateurs in Karamay, and I will invite more people to join us and participate in activities such as recitation training and poetry classes," said Zhang Fengmei, one of the competition’s judges.

"I usually bring him to the Municipal Library to read books. I think this can help my child cultivate a good reading habit," said Zi Xiangqun, Zhang Yang's parent.

"We are trying our best to supply varied cultural services to our residents," said Hou Yi, vice-curator of the Municipal Library.

Hou said she hoped readers will come to the library more often to make the most use of its resources.
