Canada's Concordia University sent its admission representatives to Karamay High School on Nov 15 to introduce its admission procedures and attract more Karamay students to Concordia University.
Increasing number of university promotion and recruitment teams from top Canadian universities and colleges are expected to come to Karamay to advertise their education resources in the next three months. Among them are the University of Winnipeg, Oklahoma State University and Saint Mary's University.
Karamay in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has become a big enrollment target for Canadian higher education institutions in recent years thanks to the Canadian International Class program at the Karamay High School.
It is an international cooperation project launched by the education authorities of Xinjiang and Canada's Nova Scotia in 2012. Students in that class take all courses in English and will receive an academic diploma authorized by both countries.
"The first students of Canadian International Class graduated last year with impressive grades and almost all the students were admitted to well-known Canadian universities. Their good performances in universities convinced Canadian universities about our high quality education, which is why these universities further enhanced their enrollment campaign in Karamay this year," said Zhao Guosheng, director of the International Division of Karamay High School.
"Face-to-face communication with admission representatives allows students to better learn details about all the programs and helps them make future plans accordingly. Graduates can also apply and have the on-the-spot interview, which is more convenient than online application procedures," Zhao added.
Students from ordinary high schools who are willing to study abroad can also participate in promotion activities to get admission information.
