A total of 300 sets of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region commemoration stamps were available in Karamay on Oct 1, the Karamay Daily reported.

The commemoration set has three individual stamps with the themes of prosperity, a beautiful home, and unity, said Liu Hongbiao, head of the Karamay Stamps Collection Association.

A premier event was held in Karamay when over 70 stamps collectors learned in detail of the stamps' publication and queued to buy them.

"This is my first time to attend a stamps premiere though I've been collecting stamps for over 20 years. I think these commemoration stamps are very meaningful," said Zhang Kexuan, a local stamp collector.

Liu noted that the value of the stamps commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has grown over the years. Thus the worth of the current stamps is expected to appreciate as well.

However, the commemoration value is believed to be more significant. "The set of stamps has a bigger value in terms of commemoration than in investment," said Liu.
