Qinqiang Opera artists from Shaanxi province were invited to Karamay in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Oct 6 to stage a classic opera show for local residents, the Karamay Daily reported.

Twenty members of the Shaanxi Opera Academy took part in the show and performed classic Qinqiang Opera pieces such as Hong Hu Chi Wei Dui (Red Guards on Honghu Lake), Xue Lei Chou (Blood, Tears and Hatred) and Duan Qiao (Bridge).

The opera was well received by Karamay audiences. They praised artists' performing skills and expressed their wish for more similar cultural activities to be held in the future.

The performance was initiated by the Karamay Literature and Arts Association and sponsored by the Karamay Yuanhong Engineering Company.
