A delegation of retired oilfield leaders attended the celebration on the 60th anniversary of the Karamay Oilfield on Aug 30 and 31, Karamy Daily reported on Sept 1.

They visited the science and technology hall, library, black oil seniors community, Jiulong (Nine Dragons) Pond, and the data company.

"Karamay depends on oil as well as emerging industry. Now it is exploring a comprehensive development path," said Tang Jian, former secretary of the Party’s Karamay Oilfield Committee, as he visited the City Planning Hall of Karamay .

At the Black Oil Mountain Community, leaders talked with the senior residents, many of whom are colleagues and friends.

"The huge development of Karamay exceeded my imagination. We can see this is truly a happy city in education, environment, medical care and technology. I believe the city has a even brighter future, said Xie Zhiqiang, former CPPCC vice chairman of the Xinjiang autonomous region.

"Generations of the oilmen in Karamay have laid a solid economic foundation for the city. The younger generations focus on the environment, pensions, education and medical care, which is more related to people's daily life, " said Dai Mingzi, former director of Xinjiang Petroleum Administration Bureau.

"It has been 20 years since I last visited Karamay. The changes here are so huge and it definitely lives up to the title of a civilized and livable city, " said Zhang Shuping, former vice secretary of the Party's Xijiang Petroleum Administration Bureau.

The retired leaders share a common wish for the bright future of Karamay.
