Chen Xinfa, mayor of Karamay, examined the Jinlong Lake greenland construction project on Nov 11.

Since the project started on May 19, 2013, 39 institutions have completed 20.37 million cubic-meters of excavation and 2 million cubic-meters of filling-in. Also, the earthwork construction, lake water supply, telecommunications, mobile cables and gas pipeline have been completed, and the oil well sealing work and power supply cable laying project will be completed soon.

The project was suspended on Nov 15 for the coming winter and will restart in spring. It is projected that water will be drawn into the lake in mid-May. At the same time, the greening construction will be undertaken.

At the scene, Chen put forward several requirements:

First, make sure that enough water is drawn into the lake to guarantee the visual effect.

Second, keep the Yardang landform nearby and form it into islands and hills around the lake.

Third, make sure that water testing and the surrounding landscape construction run simultaneously.

Fourth, further study the terrain and topography of Karamay to ensure that the ecotope will not be damaged.

Fifth, lower the cost with due regard to quality and safety of the construction.
