Huocheng policeman rescues a wounded heron

The forest police station of Huocheng county, in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, rescued a wounded heron on Feb 1.

The policeman found that the heron had injured one of its legs, so he disinfected the wound and bandaged it before sending heron to the local animal and plant protection office for further treatment.

Chinese Pond Herons, which are under Level-2 protection in china, are long-legged birds belonging to the ardeidae family and are found in freshwater and coastal area. Herons prefer living and working in groups and eat aquatic animals including fish, reptiles, amphibians, crustaceans, and insects.
