A press conference for Huocheng county’s 4th lavender culture tourism festival was held in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on April 18, with more than 100 officials, travel agency representatives, and journalists in attendance. The conference was led by Zhang Yili, director of Huocheng’s publicity department.

The lavender festival, which is set for June 10-12 in Huocheng, is divided into four parts: Opening Ceremony, Fragrant Tours, Cooperation Forum, and Promotion.

The festival will promote some local tours, including the Jieyou Princess Lavender Garden Fragrant Tour, Huiyuan Historic City Tour, and Guozigou – Sayram Lake Natural Scenic Tour, to attract more domestic and international tourists.

Cui Ying, deputy manager of Jieyou Princess Lavender Garden, said that this year, more than 5 million yuan ($811,871) has been invested in expanding the garden’s lavender planting area and improving visitor services. One of its new tourism products, the vanilla banquet, is also gaining popularity.

Ma Zhijun, director of the Huocheng tourism bureau, said more tourism enterprises are participating in the lavender culture tourism festival, which offers great networking and business opportunities. The festival helps promote local tourism and raise the county’s international profile.
