The number of visitors coming to enjoy delicious food at the Huocheng Gourmet Festival reached a new high on June 15, when the Huocheng Lavender Tourism Festival kicked off.

Tens of sellers from across the country came to the gourmet festival with their typical local dishes, such as bean curd from Hunan, chili powder from Sichuan, Goubuli steamed buns from Tianjin and coconut from Fujian. Crowds of diners were attracted to enjoy the scrumptious dishes.

Shu Dejun, a seller from Chongqing who came to Xinjiang for the first time, said that he liked the atmosphere very much. He also said that he had sold more than 100 bowls of various dishes in the morning.

Local food from Huocheng also made their presence in the festival, and dishes such as cold jelly, fried boiled pork and roast meat were all very popular.

The gourmet festival, designed to promote Huocheng to the outside world by combining gastronomy with tourism and culture, lasted five days. It helped create a pleasurable environment for local investment promotion, business negotiation and sightseeing.
