(chinadaily.com.cn), Updated: 2015-06-19
The city of Xiamen in East China’s Fujian province imported 23,400 tons of fruits from Taiwan between January and May. Xiamen and Taiwan lie opposite each other and are separated by the Taiwan Strait.
In the first five months of 2015, the amount of imported fruit from Taiwan surpassed the 19,800 tons imported in 2014 and represents an increase of 132.8 percent compared with the same period in 2014.
The imports during the period were valued at $32.78 million, an increase of 151.2 percent compared with the same period in 2014. The substantial growth of import value owes an increased amount of pineapple imports.
