Boxing gala returns to Tianjin

TIANJIN - The Second Tianjin International Boxing Exhibition Games will be held in October in the northern coastal city. In addition, four rounds of other boxing matches will also be held in Tianjin in August, September, November and December respectively.

"We are going to make the event a unique and world-renowned name card for Tianjin. We plan to hold it regularly here in order to finally render Tianjin the boxing center of China. In addition, boxing will also be a fresh push for local tourism and the sports industry," said Zhang Lei, General Manager of Tianjin International Sports Development Co Ltd, during a press conference held on August 18.

Audiences will have the chance to see the No 9 rated World Boxing Organization (WBO) boxer Chaucy Wellier and Eduard Penerio, who ranks second only to the legendary Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines.

Visitors will also get to witness the birth of the new WBO Intercontinental Champion and WBO World Youth Champion during the The Second Tianjin International Boxing Exhibition Games.

TheĀ First Tianjin International Boxing Exhibition Games were held in Tianjin inĀ December last year.

Special performances and surprise guests will appear throughout the gala, Zhang said.
