A series of tourist activities with the theme “Tourism Marketing Year” started in Dongping on January 22.
These activities include the logo collection of Dongping tourism images, celebration of the Lantern Festival, a travel promotion based on the famous Chinese book Water Margin, parties of 100 travel agencies to gather tourist materials and the parade of Miss Tourism World..
Taking advantage of resources and geographical location, Dongping has been striving to make scenic spots famous with the theme of “Water Margin Dongping, Aquatic Dongping” and “Experiencing Water Margin Culture in Vacation Travel”.
With investment exceeding 1 billion yuan, five programs including a cruise around Dongping, Water Margin Film Base, Ancient City of Song Dynasty and urban ecological water system are being carried out. Other projects are under construction: Water Margin Ancient Town, Water Margin Film City, Water Margin Holiday Hotel, Qinghe River Park, Liugong Mountain Village, Kunshan Mountain Village, Huangshi Cliff and Daicun Dam Amusement Park. Dongping also plans cultural travel routes with the theme of cruising around Dongping to see Water Margin culture, wetland ecotourism and fishing town customs.
"These activities will open up a new channel for Dongping to showcase tourism,” said Zhang Liguo, Secretary of the Management Committee of Donping Lake.
