Xue Yufeng, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), was invited to inspect a mediation center established by a court in the city of Pingtan, East China’s Fujian province.

Xue learned that in recent years, the court has focused on resolving disputes before they are litigated, taking the lead in establishing a mediation center in Fujian in order to nip disputes in the bud.

She spoke highly of the center, saying that it focuses on people’s most urgent judicial needs and combines legal, administrative and social resources so as to provide people with a place where they can argue their cases.

Xue expected the court to continue to improve the center by expanding the mechanism linking litigation and non-litigation approaches and explore other platforms that allow courts to participate in comprehensive social governance.
