On May 8, Gao Chunyan, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and head of the Agricultural Technology Promotion Center of Muling in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang, was invited by the People's Court of Muling to inspect the trial of family affairs and the building of the smart court system at the court.

Gao learned that the court’s newly established tribunal of family and juvenile affairs handled 44 cases of various types and concluded 30 of them during the first month after its establishment.

She said that the tribunal of family and juvenile affairs is committed to maintaining family harmony and stability and promoting juveniles’ healthy growth by quickly resolving family disputes, educating juveniles and preventing juvenile crimes and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of women, children and the elderly.

During the epidemic, the court set up a WeChat-based litigation service platform to provide one-on-one legal consultations. Through the platform, it completed 534 online case fillings and concluded 497 cases. It also used a cloud system to try 26 cases and mediate more than 30 disputes. By combining online and offline approaches, the court finalized 155 court files during the period.

Gao acknowledged that during the epidemic, the court upgraded its level of informatization in cases handling, increasing its efficiency and ensuring efficient and timely judicial services.

She suggested that the court continue to bring people more convenience with its smart court system. She also advised the court to continue its legal risk warning services for enterprises in order to meet their need for diversified judicial services.
