During a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), called for deepening technology application in the judicial field.

Zhou pointed out that since the COVID-19 outbreak, with the help of information technology, courts across the country have been maintaining the normal operation of trials and the enforcement of court rulings, citing their use of the China Mobile Micro Court, the SPC's online trial platform, and the building of a smart court system.

He called for in-depth integration of modern technologies including 5G, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and blockchain with the judicial work.

He demanded progress in promoting the mode of internet court, international communication and the training of talents with both judicial and technological expertise.

Wang Zhigang, the minister of science and technology, also called for more technological innovations in the judicial field and a more intelligent judicial work mode.

Before the meeting, which was hosted by He Rong, the court's newly-appointed vice-president, Wang visited the SPC's smart court laboratory in Zhou's company.
