A cascade of fresh ideas emerged at the national finals of the 5th China College Students’ “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition – held at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, in East China’s Zhejiang province on Oct 12-15 – according to the organizers.

Strong interest was shown in the finals and several officials from the Ministry of Education attended the finals. Leaders from Shanxi University, including Yin Jie, its vice-president, and other teachers from the office of academic affairs also attended.

Two projects from Shanxi University won silver awards at the finals, according to officials.

The two projects were a bran protein project by Li Zhuoyu, Shan Shuhua, and Shi Jiangying, and an agricultural product project by Liu Aiqin, Shi Tao, and Liu Jinlong.

In addition, the 12th National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for Undergraduate Annual Convention & Exhibition was held at Zhejiang University of Technology on Oct 11-13.

There, a new device for a positioning system for trains by Yang Bo from Shanxi University was showcased.

Officials said that since launch of the innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in June this year, a total of 1,641 Shanxi University students signed up for the contests, participating in 223 projects.
