Irish scholar lectures at SXU

Professor Sarah Culloty from the National University of Ireland, Cork, also known as the University College Cork (UCC) delivered a speech on the protection of native shellfish in Europe through disease control technologies at Shanxi University on March 10.

The speech consisted of three parts: the high economic value of oysters, parasitic diseases that threaten the species, and biological technologies to protect them. Professor Sarah Culloty introduced various technologies and methods for preventing and controlling parasitic diseases of oysters native to Europe.

The speech aroused great interest among teachers and students at SXU's life science college.

Professor Sarah Culloty is the dean of UCC's School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Her major research interest lies in ecological parasitology, especially diseases in molluscs.
