Shanxi University men's basketball second in CUBA division

The Shanxi University men's basketball team won runner-up in the Northwest Division of the 17th Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBA) tournament on March 29.

The young team from Taiyuan, capital of North China’s Shanxi province, made a historical win in the division semi-finals by beating Xi’an’s Northwestern Polytechnical University one day earlier. The team has only been playing for three years.

Ge Hui, the team’s chief coach and a teacher from Shanxi Univeristy, was named “Excellent Coach.”

The finals were held in Zhengzhou University, Henan province. Zhang Hanjing, the deputy chief of Shanxi University Party committee, attended the games to cheer for the student athletes.
