The China (Pingyao) supervisory culture museum opened in Pingyao county, Jinzhong, North China’s Shanxi province, on Sept 19 –– the first of its kind in the country.

Officials from Shanxi provincial government, Jinzhong municipal government, Pingyao county’s government, and other related departments attended the opening ceremony.

Themed on supervisory culture, the museum highlights the supervision system of ancient China, and tells the stories of representative figures in Pingyao county and in other parts of the country.

The museum has seven exhibition halls, including displays dedicated to the history of supervision, the supervision system, and key figures from the supervision system. A total of 628 items are on display for visitors to the new facility.

Last year, more than 10 million people visited Pingyao, and the new museum is expected to receive at least 500,000 visitors each year.
